Spring is right around the corner and with Spring comes gardening and home improvements and repairs. Make plans to go to the 2011 Home and Garden Show on February 26-27, 2011 to see the latest and greatest in these areas. Get some great ideas and input on your next home project from many of Georgia’s home improvement experts.

Family Science Night

February 25, 2011 from 5 PM to 10 PM is Family Science Night at the Tellus Science Museum in Cartersville, GA. Bring the kids out to meet Curious George and enjoy an evening of fun and learning. You can tour the Observatory and look through a telescope, construct a cell, make an H20 bracelet, control a solar, wind, or hydolysis model car, learn about combustible engines, and more. For a nominal fee, enjoy a kid friendly show in the planetarium.
Admission is $12 for adults, $10 for seniors 65+, $8 for children 3 – 17 and students with ID, Free for active military with ID and museum members. Add a planetarium show for just $3, $2 for basic members. For more information and details, call 770-606-5700.

Bartow History Museum Lectures

The Bartow History Museum in Cartersville, GA has evening lectures the last Thursday of every month at 7 PM. February’s evening lecture welcomes local Civil War historian Leonard Gandy. He will be discussing Francis Bartow and the First Battle of Manassas. Bartow County was named for this Confederate Army’s first brigade commander to die in combat.
The date for this event is February 24, 2011. Admission for the museum is $5.50 for adults, $4.50 for seniors 65+ and students, children 5 and under and active military are Free. For more information and details, contact 770-382-3818.

Live Jazz at the City Cellar

If you want to hear some smooth jazz, you’ll want to come by the City Cellar in downtown Cartersville, Georgia on Thurday nights from 7 PM to 10 PM to hear Joseph Patrick Moore along with some special guests. Joseph Patrick Moore has recently performed with jazz guitarist Earl Klugh at Eric Clapton’s Crossroads Guitar Festival. Get together with some friends and make a great evening of it. You are sure to have a good time!

Bad Dates

The Pumphouse Players’ next production is going to be Therese Rebeck’s Bad Dates, starring Stacy Vacaro and directed by Jeanne Young. It is a completely charming one woman play whose idiosyncratic journey of self discovery involves the Romanian mob, a Buddhist rainstorm, a teenage daughter, shoes, and some very bad dates.
The show runs February 18 – 20 and 25 – 28, 2011. Friday and Saturday evening shows are at 8 PM. Sunday matinee is at 3 PM. Opening night show tickets are the special price of $10. Regular tickets prices are $15 for adults, $12 for students, seniors, and PHP members. Group rates are $10 each. Contact 770-387-2610 for more information.
