Lecture on Georgia’s Indian Heritage

Learn about the heritage and cultures of Georgia’s Creek and Cherokee people by attending a lecture being given by Dr. Max White, Professor of History at Piedmont College at Etowah Indian Mounds Historic Site in Cartersville, Georgia on September 17, 2011 from 2 PM to 3 PM. He will help you understand their history, culture, their contributions and trials as well as their modern culture and how it came to be.

Harvest Time at the Homestead

Volunteer some of your time on September 10, 2011 to help prepare Red Top Mountain State Park in Cartersville, Georgia for upcoming events such as Harvest Time at the Homestead, Halloween hayrides, and more. They need help getting the cabin prepared to host Harvest Time at the Homestead on September 24 and 25, 2011 from 10 AM to 4 PM.

Life in the 1800sHarvest Time at the Homestead gives you an opportunity to step into the past to experience some ways of life for people back in the 1800s. There will be demonstrators showing how different crafts like woodworking and soapmaking were done and how tasks like laundry were accomplished. A Civil War camp will be created so stop by to talk to the soldiers.

A Bit of British Comedy

The Pumphouse Players will bring A Bit of British Comedy to Cartersville, Georgia on September 9 and 10, 2011. Skits and jokes inspired by British comedians like Benny Hill, Fry and Laurie, and shows like Monty Python will be performed. It is sure to be an evening of silliness and fun. Kip Henderson and his troupe of actors are  presenting this event at the Legion Theater as a fundraiser for the Pumphouse Players.
