			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><img class="alignleft size-full wp-image-360" title="Cowboy on Horseback" src="http://www.downtowncartersville.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/cowboy_on_horseback-sm.jpg" alt="Cowboy on Horseback" width="150" height="113" />The 10th annual Cowboy Festival and Symposium is coming to the Booth Western Art Museum in Cartersville, Georgia on <strong>October 25 &#8211; 28, 2012</strong>. This festival will be filled with so many exciting presentations, workshops, and much more. There will be children&#8217;s activities, a re-enactment of the Gunfight at the OK Corral, Native American dance demonstrations, demonstrations of pioneer skills, and a Western Marketplace. Roy Rogers, Jr. will be in concert at 2 PM and 7 PM on Saturday, October 27.</p>
<p>Admission is $10 for adults, $8 for seniors 65 and over, $7 for students, $3 for children 12 and under, Booth Museum members and active military with ID are free. Concerts, artist workshops, and school programs are an additional fee. Ronnie Holcomb with the Department of Natural Resources will be sharing information about these creatures. There will even be a special guest, Hairy the Rosehair Tarantula.</p>
<p>While you are at the preserve, make sure to make time to hike the trails. Hikes are self led and should be started by 4 PM. All activities are free and open to the public however, donations are always greatly appreciated. For more information, call 678-848-4179.</p>
<p>The entrance to Pettit Preserve is located on Douthit Bridge Road past the Birchwood Farms subdivision.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Explore the Tellus Museum in Cartersville, Georgia on <strong>August 4, 2012</strong> from 6 PM to 10 PM with the Wright Brothers, Marie Curie, Galileo, Dr. Who, characters from Star Wars, Star Trek, Firefly, and more! The museum comes alive with more than 40 different science and science fiction characters! A new planetarium show, &#8220;Sizing Up Space&#8221; will be featured along with a costume contest for kids.</p>
<p>Kids ages 12 and under are invited to dress up as their favorite science or science fiction character and enter into the costume contest. Awards will be given for different categories and different age groups. You can get all the details of the contest when you buy your tickets. PLEASE NO ADULT COSTUMES.</p>
<p>Tickets are $20 for non-members, $10 for museum members and can be purchased by phone 770-606-5700 ext. 431 or at the front desk. Call in tickets must be purchased by 5 PM on August 3. You will still be able to purchase tickets at the front desk on the night of the event.</p>

There will be hundreds of cars there from 5 PM to 7 PM competing for the People&#8217;s Choice Award and hourly giveaways. If you have a car you would like to show off, it will cost you just a $2 entry fee to compete. Food will be available at the event. You may want to come early to dine at one of the downtown restaurants.</p>
<p>Stick around downtown after the car show to see Babe&#8217;s Bayou in concert as part of the 2012 Summer Concert Series. The concert will be from 7 PM to 9 PM. <p>There will be lots of football talk with Wes Durham, Sportscaster for Georgia Tech and the Atlanta Falcons; Scott Howard, Sportscaster for the Georgia Bulldogs; and Tony Barnhart, &#8220;Mr. College Football&#8221; and author of &#8220;Southern Fried Football&#8221;. Loran Smith who is affiliated with UGA will moderate the event.</p>

The concert will begin at 7 PM at the Friendship Plaza in downtown Cartersville.</p>
<p>The Bartow Winds is a non profit group of musicians who puts on concerts as a way to give back to the community. All proceeds go to benefit local charities in the North Georgia area. They are a group of 60+ members ranging from high school students to older adults and have a reputation for putting on quality concerts to be enjoyed by people of all ages.</p>

Registration begins at 6 AM and the ride begins at 8 AM. You have the options of 15, 30, 50, and 100 mile rides down pretty country lanes and through farmland in North Georgia. The ride is fully sagged with rest stops and refreshments every 10 to 15 miles along the routes with a meal provided after the ride.</p>
<p>Registration fee is $30 per person and all proceeds will go to benefit the Boys and Girls Club of Bartow County. For more information call 770-382-5500.</p>
